Myanmar: Of Pagodas and Palaces : Mandalay-Bagan-Inle-Yangon

Wonderful World’s maiden trip to Myanmar was in December 2016 and since then we have not been able to shut up about how spectacular the trip was.
So, in the spirit of generosity and sharing and all things nice, we want to do it again.
And this time, we want to take you with us!

We begin our trip in Mandalay, the former royal capital. The city is built on the banks of the Irrawaddy River and is perhaps the most famous city in Myanmar, thanks to Rudyard Kipling and his poem.
Mandalay is probably the best place to orient yourself with Myanmar and the pleasures that this country has to offer. For most of us, coming from vastly unplanned urban chaos, it’s a bit disorientating that Mandalay is actually a planned city with streets that follow a grid system (like New York).

We move on to Bagan, which really is the highlight of Myanmar. The green and gold plains of Bagan stretch out before you, with thousands of temples (pagodas) dotting the landscape. It’s majestic, it’s awe-inspiring, and it’s like nothing you have ever seen before. Bagan is one of Asia’s richest archaeological sites.
If God had a bucket list, I believe Bagan would be #1.
We firmly believe this is one of the prettiest places on earth and want you to experience it fully.

From Bagan we move on to Lake Inle. The locals like to call it the Venice of the east. But that’s an under-sell. Lake Inle is a 22 km long, 10 km wide, freshwater lake. There are no roads or pavements here – Everyone gets around in these fantastic long boats that are painted the brightest, most cheerful colours. Tourists have not yet overrun this destination, where fisherman enthral you with their unique one-legged paddling technique that you won’t see anywhere else in the world.
We spend two nights in this magical location before we fly to Yangon.

Yangon is where our tour ends. Its Myanmar’s largest and most energetic city. Think of all the colonial buildings in Kolkata and Mumbai and then double it! Yangons buildings are a bit faded and crumbling now, but the city has a charm and vibe that’s hard to beat.

We stay at luxurious 4 star hotels in all destinations, so that you enjoy the finest Myanmar hospitality that the country has to offer.
We travel by a comfortable AC coach for the Road Journeys and by air between some destinations. All domestic airfare is included in our costs.

For this trip, we offer luxurious 4* HOTELS

Mandalay – Mandalay Hill Resort or similar
Bagan – The Hotel @ Tharabar Gate  or similar
