Truffle Infused Dreams – Croatia -(Zagreb, Rovinj, Split, Dubrovnik)

If you dream of balmy days, of sitting by gorgeous blue water, walking narrow cobble stoned streets in ancient walled cities, truffle infused meals accompanied by some great local wines – then make your dreams come true in this gem, called Croatia.

We bring you a comprehensive 9 day escape – covering the major highlights, Dubrovnik, Split, Zagreb, Plitivice Lakes and the lesser known gems in the Istria region – Rovinj, Pula and Groznjan

We fell in love with Istria and while most itineraries do not cover this – we felt it was a must do on a trip to Croatia.
And then of course we have the historic – World Heritage sites of Dubrovnik and Split.

Zagreb – a small metropolis, made for strolling streets, sipping a cuppa in the perennially full cafes, taking in the Austo Hungarian architecture – is a must do!

Come explore Croatia with a small group of ladies
The highlights of this trip

  • – Visit Plitvice Lakes
  • – Experience the wonder of the Sea Organ in Zadar
  • – Visit the gorgeous, small towns in Istria –Groznjan and Pula
  • – Take in the island of Hvar
  • – Go wine tasting in Peljesac
  • – Walking tours of Dubrovnik and Split
  • – And free time to get lost – a must do!

Our trip of 8 nights / 9 days involves hotel stays in the heart of each town.
In Dubrovnik we will be staying at different Air BnB’s to ensure we are staying in the Old city

Like all our trips, this one will have a mixture of activity and leisure time

Croatia is the stuff of dreams and we can’t wait to take you there

Itinerary

5th May (Includes dinner)

  • – Land at Zagreb airport and transfer to the city.
(Group transfer – please check with us before booking your flights)
  • – We grab dinner at a Michelin Star restaurant and get to meet each other

Overnight at Jagerhorn Hotel or similar

6th May (Includes breakfast)

  • – Post breakfast we head out on a walking tour of Zagreb with a local guide.Amongst other things – We visit the colourful St. Mark’s Cathedral in upper town, St. Catherine’s church and the medieval stone gate.
  • Take in the sights and sounds at Dolac the lively open air market – a must do when in Zagreb.
  • – And then we have left the afternoon free – so you can decide what you would like to do. Visit the unusual Musuem of Broken Relationships – one of it’s kind, shop, or just wander the leafy beautiful lanes – or do it all, the choice is yours!

Overnight at Jagerhorn hotel or similar.

7th May (includes breakfast) – Zagreb – Plitvice Lakes – Rovinj

Post an early breakfast we start our drive to Plitvice National Park – a Unesco World Heritage Site.
Feast your eyes on a string of sixteen beautiful lakes of crystal blue and green waters.
Fed by small streams and brooks, they spill into each other in 92 foaming cascades and thundering waterfalls.
Walking around the lakes takes an entire day, but it’s a delightful walk!

Then we drive to Rovinj – a jewel in the Istria region and personally for me, the most atmospheric town in Croatia.

Overnight at Angel O Doro or similar

8th May – (includes breakfast and lunch)

Post breakfast we head out to explore the Istria region.
Go back in time as we visit Pula, an ancient town with it’s well preserved amphi-theatre.
Then we head to the artists town of Groznjan to wander it’s small lanes and grab some lunch. Istrian truffles are very famous and live up to their name!
We head back to Rovinj and you are free to explore Rovinj on your own. There are tons of tiny cute shops, café’s, wine bars, and you can literally sit a step away from Adriatic while you sip that wine or coffee

9th May (Includes breakfast and lunch)

Rovinj to Split via Zadar

  • Post breakfast we start our drive to Split.
  • En-route we stop at Zadar to marvel at the Sea Organ. An unusual organ powered by the wind and the sea, when the sea pushes air through the whistles, a series of melancholy chords are played with sounds emerging though the perforated stone stairs

Truly unusual!

Then we continue on to Split. Upon arrival we check in and relax for a bit before embarking on a two hour walking tour of Split.
The old town of Split is built in and around the spectacular Roman Palace erected by the Roman Emperor Diocletian in the 4th century. The walking tour starts with a visit to the cellars of the Palace that are still very well preserved. The cellars offer a good view at how the life in the Palace was organized.
And we walk by the other sites
And our hotel is within the walls of the Palace – no better place to stay!
Overnight at Jupiter Luxury rooms or similar

10th May (Includes breakfast)

This is a free day with some optional tours that you could pick from

  • – OPTIONAL: Full day excursion to Hvar with local guide by public ferry / catamaran (duration approx. 8 hrs)

Or just walk around Split  – the choice is yours and depends on how you like to holiday.
Overnight at Jupiter Luxury Rooms or similar

11th May (Includes breakfast)

  • In Dubrovnik – we will all be staying at different B&B’s – as this is the only economical way to stay within the old city walls.
  • Post check in – we proceed on a sightseeing tour of Dubrovnik (including walking the city walls)

George Bernard Shaw said – “Those who seek paradise on Earth should come to Dubrovnik” – so come take in a slice of this paradise.

(Overnight at different air B&B’s in Dubrovnik. These are incredibly charming. We will try our best to get twin sharing rooms – but in some cases they may be double.  All of Dubrovnik is up and down stairs – so be ready to burn some calories!)
